Some of you may remember a posting from me in late June about my beautiful old low mileage 1980 244 being assaulted by gravel thrown from a flail mower as I sat helpless at an intersection. The damage was repaired and the entire car painted. I did a lot of extra work removing all the trim, trim fasteners, bumpers, door handles, etc to ensure a quality paint job. The end product was well worth the effort and she was well received at the Volvo expo in Niagara Falls this past August.
Since the repaint I've been one of those guys that parks at the far corner of the parking lot, happily hiking to the store knowing my car will be ding-free when I return.
About an hour ago I was waiting to turn left onto a city street, leaving the parking lot of a drug store. A Casino bus turns left into the parking lot from the city street and cuts the corner too close. He just narrowly misses clipping my front bumper. I don't know what he was thinking, but he continues past us so close that I was afraid for the side mirror, and then cuts sharply to the left. The middle of the bus is gouged from my rear bumper and the guy keeps going! The side of the bus caves in and he pushes my car to the side until the sidewall of the tire is under the rim and leaking air.
My bumper trim is shot, the bumper is damaged, the quarter panel is caved in and scratched badly, and the middle trim is destroyed....ooOooh my baby!
To add insult to injury, the accident happened on private property so the cop couldn't charge the guy. And with Ontario's no fault insurance it will go on my insurance record.
ARRRRGH!
