'87 760GLE HEATER 700

My car has an automatic climate control. The manual says it keeps the cabin temp at the desired one. I dont hear the air comming from the vents, but the interior warms up. Also there is no light on the unit. The heater blower, Im told is about $212 ( Cnd) and is near the passenger floor side. Before I fork out that amount plus labour. Before I fork out that amount any advice?
