trailer hitch questions 200

Have my rear bumper off and noticed the bolt holes for the trailer hitch. It seems like the hitch would tend to stiffen up the rear much in the same way that strut braces in the front do. Also the weight in the back seems like it might balance the front rear. Does anyone know if this true? Seen a hitch a the pic and pull.
