crank pulley - should I replace? 200

In changing my timing belt, I noticed that the small rubber in the crank pulley is cracked and peeling a bit.

My question is what the expected life out of this and should I get a new one. I already spent a lot of money on parts this money, so I am a bit relectant to spend another 75 bucks.

Btw: FCPGroton sells Scan Tech crank pulley for 65 bucks;another website quoted OEM for 148 bucks.

Does this part usually exhibit sudden failure, or will it show some noticible signs of decay first?

Thanks
