'Check Lambda Sond' warning light illuminated 200

Hi all

I have a problem with my 1989 245 (B230F). Since today the "check Lambda Sond" warnig light glows. Consequently I changed the lambda sond an disconnected the positive battery cable to reset the bulb. Then I drove a few miles and the light switches on again. I repeated the procedure from above and since then, the light is off.

Now what is curious about all this, the car does not has not made any problems even with the warning light illuminated. Idle speed is perfect, engine runs perfect, fuel consumption is ok, cold/ warm start is ok AND there are no codes on the diagnostic box in the engine bay.

Now what could be the possible cause for this? I had similar problems 10 years ago, but then it was evident, that something is not all right...the amm was defect at that time...but now..nothing. No symptoms. Is it only the consequence of some bad fuel qualitiy or could it be the begining of a larger problem?

Thank you in advance for any suggestion

Have a nice day

MP
