Pop, Sizzle not what I wanted to hear 200 1983

I tried the ignition control unit test today by jumpering terminal B to terminal C in the 3 wire connector at the distibutor. What I should have heard was the fuel pumps run but instead heard a muffeled POP and then a sizzle and no fuel pumps. Tried to start it and still nothing. I then thought about how easy the connector slid together and someone told me there where supposed to be sleeves for the pins. I took some extra sleeves for the ignition computer and put them in the connector. Hit the the key and VROOOOM! It now runs again, problem is it still has intermittent fuel and spark dropout. Sometimes it causes the fuel relay to buzz for 2-3 seconds before dying. Most of the time it does not die it just stumbles for 5-10 seconds and takes back off. Shuting the car off and restarting seems to help but after a minute or two it starts stalling again. Could the ignition control unit make it lose spark in this manner if it is defective? It has a new halleffect sensor, new coil and all wiring checked many times. As always any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. I feel I am so close to getting this thing on the road.
