The subject of what dampening oil to use has come up before, but I'd be interested in theoretical impressions and/or practical experience of what the effect on mileage would be, of having very little, if ANY (none to speak of, at least not enough to give any dampening action).

...as on a somewhat neglected car where the owner mentions "poor mileage" on the order of 12-14MPG city (BW35 also, which can't help....choke works fine, retracts completely).

It is known to most of us that the dashpot dampening gives an equivalent accelerator pump action, so it would stand to reason that no dampening would momentarilly cause a lean mixture (no transitional enrichment), resulting in a lean stuble or worstcase a lean backfire...would this not suggest an average INCREASE in mileage...thoughts or experience anyone?
