camshaft removal 740 / 940 700

Hi guys,

I just bought a used 531 head and I want to try and remove the camshaft to see if it's a VX cam in there. I think the head came from a B230FB engine and if so I believe it's got a VX cam, but of course the only way to be certain is to pull it out and check. Anyway this is the first time I'm removing a cam, I removed all the cam fastener bolts in no specific order hoping that the cam will push the fasteners up and it didn't! All the fasteners are still tightly attached to the head, even when I gently tapped it with a mallet. I hope I didn't bend or break anything already... (fingers crossed). It seem like the oil sludge built up over the years has clogged the bolts and cam fasteners making it stuck to the head.

Can any of you guys give me some help with the proper procedure of removing a camshaft? Maybe I need a can of degreaser and give it a good spray? The head will be professionally re-conditioned before I fit it in my car.
