'85 240 R134a retrofit kit - where do these parts go? 200

I'm preparing myself mentally for doing the R12 to R134a retrofit. The R-12 has already been removed. I bought the Volvo retro kit from FCP Groton, but no instructions came with it. Most of it I think I can figure out, except:
1) Where does the T-connector go (with threaded fittings on the straight-through part, and a Schraderesque valve on the side)? With the receiver/dryer?
2) Yellow O-rings - comes with a packet of several, but doesn't say where they go. Maybe this will become evident once I get started.
3) Do I need any thread sealant (as mentioned in my Haynes book), and if so, what type?
Still got to get a replacement compressor for my failed unit. Assuming I get a rebuilt R-12 type (with ports on the back), is this where I should put the ester oil that comes with the kit?
One more thing -- do I need flare-nut type wrenches for this job, or regular open-end? (and, any other special tools?)
