brake calipers on '92 same as '86? 200

howdy,
Recently purchased a 92 240 wagon 5 speed with 206k on it. I repalaced tie rods, brake pads and the rotors in the front, had it aligned and changed the oil. The front seems to have a bit of shakiness (might be shocks or bushings), not that worried.
The other day I was going like 80mph and suddenly got a trmendous shuddering from the front, like the front end collapsed. I immediately pulled over and checked it out. All I could smell was brake padand figured the calipers had frozen. I limped back onto the highway, stomped the pedal a couple of times and got it to unfreeze. No real drama from it since but i do feel the aforementioned slight rumblings in it from time to time. I think I may need to rebuild my calipers with a kit soon, before the rotors warp again. I have an '86 dl sedan parts car(from california) with alot less corrosion on the calipers than the 92 has.
My questions are, would it be possible to use the older brakes on the newer car, can I replace the newer rear ATE calipers with Girlings (and where can I find a Girling rebuild kit?), on a scale of 1-10 how hard is this whole procedure and how long should it take?

thanks in advance, all
