Transmission late shifting 700

I have an 87 760Ti with an automatic tranny that shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, then I have to take my foot off the throttle to let it shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to od. If I push the throttle after the 2-3 shift, it downshifts. Tell me I don't need a new transmission! Fluid looks good, doesn't smell, and it isn't low. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Susan
