Hey everyone,
This applies to anyone with an 1800s up to and including chassis number 23599. I think that's up to the end of '67.
If your car still has the original old-style window washer pump (#661324) in it, that pump has two rubber seals in it which are NLA from Volvo. I have done a great deal of looking for those seals (part numbers 43188 & 343378) through other suppliers and have thus far found only one that carries them, CVI in Sweden. I would have ordered those seals from CVI but I backed out because of their high minimum order requirement and minimum shipping charge. I just didn't want to spend $300 on a bunch of other parts just to get those two little seals.
Finally, I lobbied Shayne at IPD and he has graciously offered to bring in some seal sets for that washer pump on A ONE TIME BASIS if there's enough interest. In other words, they won't be making it a regular stock item but if we can get enough orders IPD will bring in some sets for us. Shayne estimates the cost will be about $15 USD for the kit.
Even if your pump is not leaking now you should at least order one set to have on hand because those seals (particularly the one that goes around the motor shaft) will start wear out and leaking eventually. Then you will have a heck of a time finding replacements unless you order a set or two now while you have the chance. Maybe CVI will still have them, but there's no guarantee of that.
Anyone who wants to get some of these seal kits should contact me off-list and let me know how many kits you want. Again, each kit will have two seals in it and should cost around $15.00 USD.
