what size socket to use for top strut nut? 700 1988

Hey guys, what size socket do you use to loosen/remove the top strut nut? Should it be a deep socket as well?

I'm heading to teh junkyard to get an "education" on how to remove/replace my struts on a junkyard car before I do it to my car and I want to have all the right tools before I go.

ANy other tools I should definitely bring with me?
