Hi:
I have an altitude compensation solenoid controled by a Barometric switch on my turbo diesel. My barometric switch is shot, not allowing the solenoid to be energized. The Green Book says this solenoid should be energized below 6000 ft and de-energized above 6000 ft.
Well; I've been running with the solenoid de-enegized when it's supposed to be energized (below 6000 ft.).
What are the problems running this way (if any)? I don't ever intend to go above 6000 ft. should I hard wire the Altitude Compensator to the Fuel Valve until I get a new Barometric Switch or does it matter?
What actually does the Altitude Compensator do? The Green book does a great job of troubleshooting it but doesn't expain it's operation.
Thanks again
