Service light turs on all the time 200 1990

Hi,

I posted a while back about the service light coming on. The replies were as I thought, about a simple reminder for regular maintenance.

Weather just got much colder and the light turns on again and again...? More serious problem? Yes, I get to shut it off by pressing the little button in bottom right corner of dash but, am I missing something? It's not the "check engine" light but can it have the same purpose? BTW I noticed the voltmeter charging in red section about 16+ volts and if I use to much electrical power at idle, the meter drops to other end at about 11~12 volts. Especially with heater fan full on. Could this be related to service light comming on?

Could a bad ground in the ventilation cause this? It's very cold, I don't have a garage to work in so I'd welcome any suggestion as to where to look at for problems so I won't freeze my nuts off!

I know, many questions but i'm stumped.

Thanks board members and visitors, you've helped me a lot in the past.
