Mesh grill material 200 1984

Today I picked up an Australian style grill for my 4 lamp flathood conversion.
It has some broken pieces in the interior of the "grill face", so to speak, but it is mountable. I've been considering two options to remedy the flaws.

1. I could cut out the broken bits and fit in some fog lights in the style of the 79 242gt. Would a dremmel tool work to cut this kind of plastic?

The second option: I could totally remove all the current cross pieces and replace it with metal mesh leaving only the Volvo "/" and logo. I want something like the type used in the ipd 850 mesh grills.
If I persue the latter where might I acquire some mesh that would work?

Thanks if you have any ideas or advice.
Oliver
