Intermittent Starting Problems 200 1987

My 1987 240 DL is having some starting problems. It won't start, and then if I let it sit for about a day, it starts right up no problem. It seems like it's getting too much gas and flooding right away, b/c I can smell gas after about 3 tries. I put in a new fuel pressure regulator to fix a stalling problem I was having, and just now I put in new plugs (copper for a hotter spark) and got an oil change just for good measure. Could it be some sensor, like a temperature or a oxygen sensor? I'm all out of ideas and this problem is very frustrating b/c it's so intermittent. The car will start up and run fine sometimes, or start real rough and after giving it a little bit of gas, rev up and run perfectly. The only other problems that could be related to this is poor gas mileage and low power. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
