Here's my new stereo for the 244...what do you think on the installation? 200

I’m putting something of an entry level sound system in my daily driver 85 244. Before I get started I’d probably like to hear what you have to say. First, here’s what I have so far…

New Blaupunkt Aspen 4x35w Cassette receiver with CD changer control, removable face and remote, …Paid $60.
Style befitting an older euro car. NOS, made when high quality tape decks still had appeal. A real plus in my mind. I find single CDs something of a pain to mess with. The changer hidden in the trunk with a silly tape deck in the dash *is* the security system.

New Blaupunkt CDC-A08 10 disc CD Changer…Paid $100.
10 discs will work very well for me. I just need to pick up a couple of extra magazines. Actually, I bought the Aspen, Changer and required Blaupunkt 10-pin ISO adapter lead together for $160! The Changer alone goes for $199 online so I quite pleased. :)

New MB Quart DKD 116 6.5" 2-way Speakers…Paid $73.
On the way. Haven’t seen the grilles but I heard they are basic black and that’s what I’m going for. Good quality but plain looking as to not draw any undue attention to the rear deck.

New Infinity Kappa 42.5i 4" 2-way Speakers…Paid $60.
On the way. Flashiest looking part of the set up. Hopefully I can hide these behind the factory door grilles.

OK, finding deals comes easy to me. Picking the gear was a little rougher. From here on it’s fairly uncharted waters. Dropping the 6.5s in the deck will be cake. I’m sure getting the 4”s in the doors will be interesting. Hopefully no trouble mounting the deck or changer.

My wonderment regards wires, cables, fuses, hookups and such. Sadly, I’ve never set up a sound system before. I’d like to do this one myself though and would love hearing tidbits of knowledge.

What kind of installation would be fitting for my no amp system? I’ve seen these “amp kits” on “the bay” that have terminals, speaker wire, long power leads that are to be routed directly to the battery, fuse blocks, something called a remote power switch or something and on and on. Probably not over my head after a little reading but do I need that kind of stuff to keep from really degrading my system? Is all of that pro-esque routing beyond novice ability? Am I nearly as well off hooking to the factory wiring? Awaiting the voice of experience. : )

Thanks...you're too kind!

Ron
