I purchased my '91 740 non-turbo a few months ago with the idea that it would be a much better idea for my daughter to begin driving in that than the Mazda I had. It has 183K miles and other than a high idle I haven't figured out I have been very pleased with it. I wasn't too concerned that it steered hard at very low speeds. I figured the power steering was not working but didn't care.
Since my daughter has begun to drive it with me I see that steering is sometimes a struggle for her. Are there any diagnostics to tell if the pump is shot or if it could be something else. The obvious is ok; belt on, pulley turning, fluid full.
I guess I should have asked a while back if I can damaage anything else long term if I keep driving it like this.
Thanks very much, Andy.
