hmm surprising that all these suggestions popped up.

no one else thinks their volvo has stiff steering compared to other vehicles? or have you just acclimated to it, so when someone else says it's stiff, the assumption is that their steering is broken?

turn off your car but leave the key in position 2. does it feel stiffer? if so, doesn't it stand to reason that your power steering was working before hand?

the steering is stiff in my vehicle. certainly not unmanageable, but definitely stiff compared to every other vehicle i've driven. it's been that way since i got the car back in 97, and the rack has held up. don't some of you think your suggestions are a tiny bit drastic?
