You guys...[shakes head] I've mentioned this in the past, and generally gotten "go for it" answers to the stop leak question. Now you've got me running scared. :-) Many thanks for stopping me before I sin again.
I've had this post bookmarked for a while.
Reformatted for ease of digestion. Thanks to original poster!
Well you can do it the way that was intended, or the way a lot of the dealers do (as well as myself).
If you go the correct way it’s about a ten hour job, the other way about one and a half.
- Remove glove box
- Remove lower brace under the glove box
- Remove the vent tubes that run to the heater box
- Loosen the top screws on the center dash console and slightly pull back
- On the right side pull the top two Phillips screws that hold the center dash vertical bars and loosen the nut at the bottom. You can now:
- Pull the bar back far enough to remove the outer fan cover
- Remove the inner fan cover after removing the blade.
- Pull the top shelf, radio, and vents out
- Remove hose clamps
- Cut the side of the heater box out
- The core will slide out
On reinstall I use a five minute epoxy to reseal the box and silicone. Make sure you leave room for the inner fan cover.
Good luck and have patience; don’t try the long way or you will have more vacuum and electrical problems than you can imagine.
Any thoughts?
