960 metal radiator 900

I have a 93 960 in need of a radiator. The current radiator is a 2 yr old alum/plastic model, when changing the upper radiator hose the plastic neck broke off the radiator. I tried attaching the hose with what was left but it popped off after a week. I've found a metal radiator but volvo recommends against this saying it will cause corrosion. Is there any truth to this and should I stick the alum/plastic design?
