I am continuing to try to fix my flickering oil pressure light and am preparing myself for the great ordeal of replacing the oil delivery tube o-rings, or for that matter, since I will be down there anyway, the oil pump itself and probably the rod bearings while I am there.
When the oil pressure was tested by the mechanic I go to last July here is what he found - please tell me if this is way low:
2000 rpm cool = 53 psi
Cold @idle = 21 psi
Warm @ idle = 15 psi
Warm @ 2000 rpm = 40 psi
He says that Volvo specs are minimum of 35.5 psi @ 2000 rpm
I don't know what to look for in terms of numbers but from what I have read on the FAQ this sounds low, and the low pressure at idle when warm probably explains the flickering oil pressure light. Is it okay to drive the car like this or should I stop and fix it immediately?
Also, what to look for in replacing rod bearings?
Blessings on all of yas,
Darius
