My wife gave me a very thoughtful birthday gift yesterday, a $200 gift certificate to Best Buy to put a CD player in my '91 Volvo 745 turbo. I know nothing about the setup of these things, but my gut tells me not to have Best Buy do the installation. (My daugher got a receiver/cassette installed there a few years ago and the wiring job was very shabby.)
I now have an OEM receiver/casette player in the car that may be able to be hooked up to a CD changer, but I also would like to consider replacing that with a receiver/single CD player instead.
What is involved in this, either adding a CD changer or replacing the existing receiver/cassette?
I checked the FAQ's about this and didn't find much about replacement. I have heard there might be a separate amp in these systems, which needs to be bypassed to make it work with an aftermarket setup.
