I have a 1988 240 with an m47 and 161975 miles on it that I bought almost two years ago with 152400 miles. The car has had Ams Synthetic oil since 75,000 up into the last oil change with PO whem he knew he was going to sell it and he put regualar oil in it. I ended up deciding to run synthetic in the car as I had heard good things about it. As you can see I have put about 5000 miles a year on the car so it does not get driven a lot. I would love to drive it more, but I live in a small town. I do try to get it on the interstate at least once a week to run it at higher speeds. This brings me to the question, given my driving habits I have been changing the Oil every 2000-2500 miles. I assume since most of my driving is in the city, that I need to change the oil more frequently, although at these intervals it's like every 4 to 5 months that the oil gets changed. I want my oil to last a long time, so do you think that I'm doing everything right, to get the most miles out of my Volvo drive train as possible.

PartII. I have a coulple questions about the maintance on these cars too. I will start off by saying that this is my 1st car so, I'm learning on the job. The car seems to run pretty good (knock on wood!)except that I notice a slight vibration when I'm in neautral at the light almost right under my seat and a very slight flexuation in idle speed? These symtoms are hardly noticable, but I'm wondering if there is anything that I should check or do? In the time that I have owned the car, I have replaced the plugs, cap roter, airfilter, fuelfilter, transmission fluid,and rearend fluid, brake pads, calipers, roters and moter and transmission mounts. I have also serviced the flametrap several times. Should I think about a valve clearance adjustment on this car? Also, what about cleaning the throttle
body? Is there anything else that I should do.
