I've just tried a second set of tire chains that don't fit the rear of our 245 wagon. We have 780 alloys with 205/60/15 tires. These are cable chains for "low clearance" applications. The main problem is that wierd collision arm on the back of the brakes. The lower shock bolt is close too. The second set of chains I got have a larger diameter inner cable, but it's still too close for comfort.
We only get snow storms in Portland once every few years, and I don't have room for snow tires laying about the other 364 days. The main reason for chains is they are required by law (or "traction tires") to go over the mountain passes. Has anyone gotten chains to fit larger wheels and tires?
