Gap in the distributor cap PIX 900

Hi,


i pinpointed where the water and moisture could get in the distibutor cap..look at this opening:

Was this meant to be a peep hole to see if there are sparks in the cap? Anyone else got this same gap in their cap... I plugged mine up with some electrical tape until i could purchase a new weatherstripping for the engine bay.
