Fuel filter noise? 700

I've just received a Bosch fuel filter from eEuroparts. Is it normal for something to be clanking around inside these when you turn them end to end? It sounds as if something fairly substantial -- the innards of the filter, I assume -- is loose inside the housing, and has a little bit of space to move back and forth.
