Exxon Valdez oil leak at front of Cam Caver ? 200 1987

I've been slowly repairing as much as I can on my newly aquired 240. I've got an oil leak from the front of the valve cover only. B230 motor. I had a shop replace both motor mounts and they said to take it to an import shop for the leak, fearing a front cam bearing leak. The oil sender is not working, even after a new wire. I assume since oil is getting to the top of the motor with ease, the oil pump is still good. Should I just put another cam cover gasket on it and hope for the best? Would it be safe to tighten all of the bolts under the cover once I pull it off? Should I torque down the head gasket too? I did this to a Dodge 2.2 with a bad head gasket and it amazingly stopped burning oil and coolant and ran better.
