I happened by a '73 164 while searching for a cheap/free car for my friend. It was flooded last spring by wonderful Pacific Northwest rain. The owner drove it (once) to higher ground this summer, he ended up in the bushes (it was parked in '98 for having bad brakes). If I can get it to run, I think it might be worth saving, with it's near perfect body and paint. What kind of damage should look for? It has an automatic. I'm thinking drain all of the fluids, look to see if there's water mixed in, and if so, forget the project. Also I'm going to charge the battery and test all of the electrical stuff. Oh yeah, it was parked at a slight nose-down angle, water got into the engine area and front floor area inside the cabin. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
