Question about a connector... 700

Hello everyone!

I was fixing my exhaut manifold gaskets and noticed a connector of some sort near the bell housing of the transmission. It looks like a tube should be going into this connector, but there's no tubing or anything leaking in that area. Could this be the connector for the RPM sensor? If it is, what would be the issues that might be caused by not having one.
