OD problem on 1993 940 Non Turbo 900 1993

My 1993 Volvo 940 NON Turbo has just started acting up at start up. Whenever i start the car the Arrow indicator located on the dash comes on indicating the car is not in OD. When I press the OD button located on the shift handle the car still wont go into OD. This is an automatic transmission. The problem started a few weeks ago but I could make it go away by shutting off the engine and restarting it. Now the problems is staying and wont go away. The moral of the story is my car doesnt shift into OD and hitting the switch doesnt fix the problem so im driving around with no OD. Anybody with any advice please let me know. I have been researching the problem but Not finding much help or advice.
