Tailgate handle change 245 200

Hi together

Short question concerning the interchangeability of the tailgate handle between the different model years. I drive a 1989 245 and would like to change my door handle with one out of a ´85 or earlier...you know, those models which were made of chrome and looked much nicer than that big black one of the ´86+ models. Are those handles interchangeble?
