Brake dragging? fuel problem????? 200

I would appreciate if someone can help me w/ a problem on wife's
car. Last Saturday, I replaced the brakelight switch and after I test drove the car I have noticed a sudden loss of power after driving for about a mile. I stopped the car on the side street.When I restarted the car everything went back to normal but it would lose power again after about another mile. Pls. any suggestions would be highly appreciated. The car is an 89 240 sedan. Thanks.
