Recently bought a nice 88 740 GLE, automatic. Engine mounts good, tranny mount good, exhaust system good, etc. The car is louder than I thought it should be. A steady, low drone at 60-70 MPH. Less noticeable at lower speeds. Poor noise insulation? The engine is not working hard at speed, 65=2400 RPM. Any comments?
Definitely engine noise, not tires, wind, tranny is clearly in overdrive, etc.
It idles quietly...
