544 king pin shims 444-544

Well,
I have been waiting for three months for king pin shims from Volvo and they are still on terminal backorder.
The steering is giving me Popeye forarms and is starting to track in a less than predictable manner on the highway. I need to replace the kingpins.
Does anyone know if the king pin shims are generic or match another vehicle?
I am hesitant to take it apart to find out as I don't want the car out of service until the terminal backorder is filled.
suggestions?
