The science behind new oil leaks w/ synthetic oil switch 900

I'd like someone more astute than I explain to us why a car (in particular the 960 series) develop leaks when you switch from dino to sythetic oil, especially with an higher mileage car. The appears to be evidence that this happens, but are there strategies to help minimize the risk? I suspect that the synthetic loosens lots of crud and may clog certain arteries, but does that result in higher pressure, thus blowing it off? This would seem to be preventable by using the Amsoil cleaner, perhaps, and changing the oil very frequently for a couple of intervals. I'd appreicate some real explanation; as a mental exercise only, of cours.
