Hello all,
I'll be moving to the LA area in August, and would like to take my '79 245 with me, but I'm worried about the California smog test! With a car this old, I'm scared that I'll bring my car to California and end up having to sell it due to high repair costs and/or a lot of annoyance in order to pass the smog test. I feel my car runs reasonably well, but I really have no idea what kind of pollution it's putting out since I've never tested it for anything like that. And with 278,000 miles, I wouldn't say it's in mint condition, but it's certainly not a junker either. I was hoping some Californians with old 240's could give me some advice on stuff to look for, or common failure modes for these cars. Am I right in being worried or am I overly paranoid? If it's going to be a constant problem getting this thing smogged, I might as well sell it before I even move, although I'd really like to keep it if it's at all practical. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance everyone!
