powder-coating wheels? 120-130

Hey All,

I just scored some original wheels for my restore-it project. They're pretty dirty and coated with multiple layers of peeling paint and gunk. I'll want to clean them up and probably paint them before putting them on. I have a couple of questions related to doing that:

1. > Would anybody recommend against power-coating wheels? I just read on another site that somebody claimed that wheels can change shape a bit at high speeds and thus you'll end up with tiny cracks in powder-coating if you try that on your wheels. They were recommending epoxy instead.

2. > I want to take off the old ratty mismatched tires on these and probably take them somewhere to get media-blasted. How difficult wouild it be to get the tires off myself, without special tools? Should I just take them to some tire-shop and pay them to do it, as it's too big a pain in the ass? How much would that reasonably cost?

Thanks Friends!
