Temp sensor 200 1980

Do the early B21F engines use the same temp sensor as the B20?

Susan's 245 had some kind of aftermarket bulb type temp gauge with an
armored tube (about 3 feet too much of it) going through the firewall
to a small dial on the dash. When I tried to disconnect it the tubular
fitting that holds the bulb into the fitting installed on the head crumbled
sort of like shale. There was enough tube that I could still unscrew the
fitting out of the head. Since the device was nonfunctional before, she
really didn't have a valid temp gauge. I remember some of you telling me
that the unused yellow wire went to the OEM temp gauge so I tried a B20
temp sender in the hole in the head and it fit like it belonged there.
If I hook up the yellow wire should it work OK?

Thanks for your advice!
