It looks like it is going to be a long (and hot) summer. I better start looking for a vacuum pump in case I need to do a complete overahaul of the a/c system. So, what do people recommend to get? I briefly looked on ebay and google this morning and it looks like I have two choices:

(1) a pump that works off the air compressor. There are a lot of red boxes, Venturi-type vacuum pumps for sale between $15-$30 dollars. Are they any good? Will they work with my Volvo's A/C system? I understand I will need to get an air compressor to compliment this pump, but I was going to buy it sooner or later anyway. So, this might be a good excuse to get both.

(2) an electic vacuum pump. These are more pricey, at $140+, but they don't require anything else to operate.

Which one is better for vacuuming a/c in my Volvo? Which one is more powerfull? Which one is more universal (in case I need to do some minor work with A/C HVAC in my house?) Are there any great deals out there?

In the meantime, if any of you have any advise on how to temporarily recharge my wife's S90 with freon (see my other post about a/c not cooling) until I get all the necessary tools to do the complete overhaul, please let me know. Thanks!
