Was... No start... intank fuel pump? ... NOW no start ... NO spark.... 200 1986

I had a noisy fuel pump so I thought my cars' dying stall as I pulled into my destination (and its subsequent no start) was due to failed in-tank pump.

after much valuable instruction and troubleshooting guidance I now know that the no start is due to no spark..

so here's what I've checked for:

1 - broken timing belt (checked by removing the timing belt cover partially) - although still covered with oil leaking from my front engine seals it is in place around it's sprockets.
2) I jumpered fuse 6 power to fuse 4 (fuel pump sound back immediately) tried cranking the engine to no avail - same no start - confirms probable problem with ignition system NOT fuel system (thanks lucid)
3) I unplugged the ICU and plugged it back in again holding the connector up while daughter cranked engine - still no start (thanks Chrisij)
4) I found the main inline fuse to be good and there was voltage at terminal 15. Should I check for voltage at terminal 2?
5) I don't know how to check for spark at the coil .... anyone?
6) I checked the voltage at the fuel relay (terminal 86/2) which should be grounded and it is not (has steady voltage of 9.5 V when cranking engine). Further confirming no spark condition
7) I checked for spark from the spark plug (wire out with known good plug in wire and laid on valve cover) no spark noticed... I should check this with someone else cranking the engine probably but it's not looking good for sparky

so what should I check for next?
