I just have to say that when $5000 in aluminum and cast iron comes to life for the first time, it is a sight to see. and hear.
This morning at about 1:30 AM I fired my first new engine for the first time. Except for a coolant leak where the water pump meets the head, it ran flawlessly. With Dellortos. With a Unilite wired directly to the coil. With a header painted with barbecue paint. With an ancient mechanical fuel pump.
What follows promises to be an endless stream of project vehicles for the rest of my life, feeding my obsession with burning the dinosaurs that trod these grounds before us. I may not be able to pay for college now, I may be more broke than any other time ever in my life, but I have one of the coolest volvos and certainly the lowest on the North American continent. Subjectively speaking of course.
Life is good again.
Should drive it out for the first time in two years tomorrow evening.
Thanks for the support, see you at IPD.
