New clutch won't fully disengage... what shall I do??? 140-160

Hello...I guess I'll have to ask you folks...
I finally got my engine running... full rebuild. Rightnow it's attached to an m40.
I got the a new disk and cover for it, but for some reason I think the disk is a bit too thick... as when I step on the clutch, I can't put it into gear. But if I put the car into 1st, while stepping on the clutch, and crank the engine- the car would start and roll very slowly. (if I stepped on the brakes, the car would stop, but the engine will keep running.) So my assumption is that the disk is a tad bit too thick, making it impossible to fully disengage.
Should I try driving it for a week or so and see if it goes away? (Maybe it'll wear a little so it will fully disengage.)
Or should I just drop the trannie, put the bloody disk on my lathe and face it a little...(make it about .020"-0.300" thinner)

What do you guys think... i can drive the car with a partially disengaging cluth, but it's annoying.... :)
