'96 960 Misfiring/Losing Power 2k-3k RPM Range 900 1996

I purchased a great 1996 960 in Aug 2003 with 107K miles on it. We took on vacation from NC down to Florida in April (it had 131k then). My wife had mentioned that she had been noticing it running funny for a second every once in a while. On the trip I started to notice it as well. During acceleration between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm it would have a quick hestitation. As the trip went on the hestitations got worse and would come a few at a time, instead of just one. At one point after gasing up I really floored it, the hestitation/misfired occurred very dramatically, and the check engine light came on. The car would still accelerate and once I got to speed would run fine. I am in the military and took it to the military hobby shop, they hooked it to their computer and told me it was a misfire on cyclinder #3. So I bought a set of new bosch Platinum plugs installed them that night and the car drove great the next morning. Later that day as we drove for an extended period of time the hestitations came back with a vengence. The next day I took it to a volvo shop (Swedish Motor Sports) in Tampa. After some checking they replaced my camshaft position sensor/monitor and sent me on my way. I got 30 minutes up the highway and it started happening again. They took it back in and looked it over for several more hours. Fortunately they had another 1996 960 there and many other sensors/parts. They checked everything that they could electrical and nothing seemed to work. At this point everytime they cranked the car a check engine light would come on and they would come on all the different cyclinders at different times. They finally replaced the spark plugs which I had installed the day before and it worked. However, the car still is not running right. The check engine light will not come on and you can barely notice the hestitation, but there is still a very minor hestitation (actually I would call it a lag now) in that same RPM gauge. My thought is that the spark plug was the fix, but that in messing with everything else they moved something just right so that it is not happening as badly anymore, but it isn't the same volvo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
