I am afraid to clean my throttle body 200

OK - Please don't call me a wimp....

My MINT 1986 244 with 49,000 miles (yes I know that is very low, and yes I know that I am lucky, and no it is not for sale :)) is running a bit rough (misses a bit, engine shakes, etc.). I have replaced all the tune up items (plugs, wires, cap, rotor), have recently replaced the AMM, ignition coil, knock and temp sensors, flexible hose from AMM to TB (it had a few cracks in it), oil breather box and flame trap. Engine harness has no signs of rot from what I can see. Given all of this, I suspect that my TB needs a cleaning (I am sure it has never been touched since it was assembled in Sweden 18 years ago!!). I just purchased a new TB gasket and am ready to go. My fear is that when putting the TB back together, I am going to screw up the idle or something else. Are the instructions in the FAQ bullet proof? Are there any bits of advice out there before this rookie gets at it??

Could bad engine / trans mounts be the culpret of the bad idle?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP / SUGGESTIONS!!!!!
