So, it was a normal Saturday morning, and I took my 83 245T for an emission test. I have never had any problems with this car, in fact, the numbers have gotten better since I got it in '88 with no major work other than plugs, ignition cables, filters regular oil changes. I have made no mods on the engine/FI/exhaust, etc. Mileage is 123K, and has only been driven 1200 miles in the past 3 years.
The numbers are so extreme I'm still in shock. (I almost needed an emissions test myself.) HC is 8.23 (pass is 2.0), CO is 239.9! (pass is 30), and CO2 is 282.5. I would welcome any sugggestions about what to check, what the numbers indicate. My first thoughts were the Cat, AMM, O2 sensor, but other than a basic understanding of FI, I know little about diagnosing this one - no OBD. Also, any recommendations for a indy shop in the Chicago area. I would have used Hubbard Woods, but not now (see my post in 700). Thanks.
