Am I the only one who is confused when people scoff at my brick? I have an 83 245 with 56K miles. Cost me $3750 and I could have got it for less according to the prices people are paying for 90s models. Absolutely fantastic condition and yet people I know act as if there new SUVs that average 12 mpg and cost them $35K are somehow a better automobile. Of course, I can fix 90% of what goes wrong with it (but after a year and a half not a thing has gone wrong yet), it gets nearly 29 mpg, has more room than the ridiculous 2001 Land Rover Discovery I recently sold after it began to rust in several places, etc., etc. I'm putting some soundproofing in and I may have the driver's seat recovered and it will look like brand new inside. Somehow, their $600 car payments must have warped their brain. I guess that is the beauty of the old 240. Most of the world is too dumb to figure out how great they are, so you can pick them up cheap and laugh all the way to the bank. Sorry, just my two cents after someone poked fun at it this afternoon.
