Hi,
I have a 1959 PV445. The previous owner installed a front clip from a '65 544. The fenders seem to be in the proper place on the body but the hood is 3/8 or so inches short where it meets the body. It also does not come down far enough to the fenders in a few places. I have tried moving the hood around by slacking and re tighting the hinge mounting bolts to the hood. I am only getting minimal improvement.
I have the front grill off. I am thinking of drilling some new mounting holes for the entire hinge mechinism aproximatly 3/8" closer to the body. I am pretty shure this will improve the front and aft position of the hood but I am not sure how this will impove the hood fitting against the fenders....
As I said earlier, the fenders apear to be mounted properly....They are snug with the indentation of the body and are flat...perhaps there needs to be somthing between the fenders and the body (by the door)...I am only guessing at this point....
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
