Headgasket replacement - results 900 1994

On June 5th I wrote to the list: "…anti-freeze leak right side of front cylinder where head meets block. Told to use Bar's (or similar) radiator stop leak in lieu of replacing head gasket. Any suggestions? Would this be...a sin?" I have a 94 940 b230fd.
Results: ended up replacing headgasket with Beck/Arnley kit & bolt kit from NAPA instead of using stop leak. Removal of head not for the impatient. Gasket in area of radiator leak in fact torn and headbolt directly above it easiest to remove. Against advice of mechanic friend, I chose not to resurface head since it only had 70K miles and looked to be in good condition (and didn't have the $$$ anyway.) Engine now runs good; no strange sounds or leaks. Valve cover gasket supplied with kit didn't fit. Beck/Arnley box shows kit made for "Volvo: B23F, B23ft...1983-84" and, strangely, NAPA double checked and that kit is listed for my 94 b230. Ordered new valve cover gasket separately. Thanks Spook & Javalion for advice.
